Designated Clinical Training Practice

The Arch Medical Practice is a designated training practice. Dr Hawting and Dr Leigh are our designated trainers. They both oversee training of  medical students here at the practice. GP Registrars are qualified doctors training to be General Practitioners (GPs). Medical Students are undergraduates training to be doctors.

Student Health Professionals

The practice is involved in teaching a variety of health professionals. From time-to-time we have student nurses and doctors working with us. Wherever possible, we try to include them in the practice team, and they may spend time sitting in consultations with the nurses or doctors. They are bound by the same rules of the professionalism and confidentiality as the rest of the team. We will always inform you when a student might be present during your consultations. You can opt out at any time and this will not affect your care in any way.

Further Training For Qualified Doctors And Nurses

We also have doctors or nurses working with us who are training to be GPs or Practice Nurses. They are already fully qualified Doctors or Nurses but are working under supervision from a Senior GP to develop the skills special to general practice.

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis and unprecedented demands on General Practice, GPs are having to change the way they work such that patients are being managed over the telephone, via some form of eConsultations and video consultations. Non-urgent work is being halted or postponed until it is deemed safer to do so. For more information please click this message to view the Practice statement on COVID-19.
